Here are some Order members who have/will be visiting us: Jayamati  Dhammarati Shantinayaka Paramananda

Jayamati

Jayamati had a successful career as a Theatre Director in the U.K. before getting involved in Buddhism. He was Artistic Director of the Everyman Theatre In Liverpool and has directed such luminaries as Bob Hoskins, Jonathan Pryce, Julie Walters, Pete Posslethwaite and Bill Nighy. Ten years ago he started a story-telling and drama project amongst the poorer people in Central India. The project encourages the seriously disadvantaged members of the "Untouchable" communities to find their voice through story-telling, song writing and drama.

He is interested in taking his experience as a Buddhist back into the theatre and works as a story- teller with a particular taste for the comical and the absurd. He was ordained into the Western Buddhist Order twenty years ago and uses his long experience of practising Buddhism to explore the "magic" behind great comedy.

Jayamati will be giving a talk at the Center on Sangha Night April 11, 7-9:15pm, about his work with the ex-untouchables (more about Jayamati's lecture) and a one-day storytelling workshop on Saturday April 20 (more about Jayamati's workshop).
