Padmatara took her first meditation class with the FWBO in Brighton, England in 1990, during one of many attempts to give up smoking. She loved meditating right away, and her interest in Buddhist practice grew from there. In '93, still smoking, she moved to San Francisco and was grateful to find the SFBC. Ordained in 2005, her name means Lotus Tara. She no longer smokes.
