Who Does What at the SFBC

This public Center exists largely because of the generosity of volunteers. The following is a rough outline of the organizational structure:

The Center Council and Chairwoman (Viveka) have overall responsibility for the Center. The Council's tasks include making Center policy and program planning and evaluation, as well as managing the building. The Council includes: Viveka, Suvarnaprabha, Karunadevi, Viradhamma, and Padmatara.

The Center Management Team (CMT) and the Center Director (Suvarnaprabha) are responsible for the day to day support of the Center's retreats and other activities. The CMT is made up of the following people: Suvarnaprabha, Rachel Kahn, Helen Demuth, Drew Folta, and Dawn Pavli. (more info about volunteering)

Padmatara is the Women's Mitra Convener, coordinating and overseeing what the Center offers to women mitras. Viradhamma is the Men's Mitra Convener. (more info about what a mitra is)

All teaching at the Center is done on a volunteer basis. The Center Chair and Director receive a modest monthly stipend for their administrative work.
